UK supermajor BP was carrying out coring operations late last month on a wildcat in Block 19 off Angola.
The Pandora-1 probe is targeting what is thought to be a pre-salt carbonate play for a budgeted cost of some $142 million.
As of 27 May, the well had reached a measured depth of about 3850 metres, en route to a target depth of just over 4000 metres, according to government data.
