A 10-year-plus gas supply contract will be up for grabs and international companies will be invited to bid against domestic producers, although the latter are not believed to have such spare production capacity or new, uncommitted output coming on stream.
The tender is expected to hit the streets before the end of the month.
PLN, which reckons Muara Tawar will be ready to receive the new gas supplies in mid-2012, will consider both pipeline gas and liquefied natural gas.
