Papua New Guinea's government has declared a state of emergency in the province that contains the gas fields and production infrastructure for the PNG liquefied natural gas plant.
The action was taken in the Southern Highlands province by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill following reported rioting after a regional court ruled against a challenge to a provincial election result by the losing candidate.
