The Philippines government is considering awarding state-owned Philippine National Oil Company-Exploration Corporation (PNOC-EC) a contract to exploit gas from an undeveloped portion of Shell’s giant Malampaya field after the service contract expires in six years’ time.
PNOC-EC is expected to be given a mandate to produce a further 100 billion cubic feet of gas after the Anglo-Dutch supermajor's contract, SC 38, expires in 2024.
