South Korea’s Posco Daewoo is considering a large 3D seismic survey over deep-water Block DS-12 off Bangladesh after a preliminary shoot indicated at least five prospective structures on the tract, which lies next to the maritime border with Myanmar.

It is understood the proposed 2000 square kilometre survey could start as early as November after this year’s monsoon season, with success leading to exploration drilling.

Posco Daewoo has already acquired seismic over 1580 square kilometres of Block DS-12, which is adjacent to Block AD-7 in Myanmar waters that the company jointly operates with Australia’s Woodside.
