Industry sources said if Heerema’s Thialf heavy-lift vessel cannot install the jacket and deck by mid-September, then first oil from the project will have to be delayed to mid-2015.
The 8500-tonne jacket and 5000-tonne deck were due to leave Bifab’s yard in Scotland in April, but delays have pushed back the sailaway dates to July and August respectively.
A source said the jacket will be loaded out on to a barge “in two weeks” for installation “at the end of this month” while “the topsides goes out two weeks later.”
