Those whose job it is to worry about protocol and procedure found themselves pondering a potential problem when it emerged that the Prince's visit to a Norwegian-operated FPSO vessel would place him in an offshore environment where contingency arrangements to deal with hydrogen sulphide gases include a“no-beards”rule.
The problem, it seems, had to do with compatibility with regulation gas masks.
Prince Haakon may not have known about the delicate problem facing the organisers, although the Norwegian newspapers did their best to give the issue thestatus it no doubt deserves.
