Oklahoma state officials have signalled that an uncontrolled gas release was behind an massive explosion and fire that consumed a rig and killed five oilfield workers at wellsite in the US this week.
An initial incident report obtained by Upstream suggested the blaze was caused by the uncontrolled release at the Red Mountain Energy-operated Pryor Trust 0718 1H-9 natural gas wellsite in Pittsburg County.
