This follows the decision to consider a different approach towards the location of the LNG plant and the export terminal.

Speaking last week in St Petersburg, Novatek deputy executive chairman Denis Khramov said the company is now considering placing the plant and the terminal offshore on concrete gravity-based structures to minimise construction activities onshore.

Initially, Novatek was expected to use its experience in building the onshore three-train LNG plant and the export terminal in the port of Sabetta on the Yamal Peninsula, which will liquefy gas from the South Tambey field, and is due to come online by the end of 2017.
