At least two people were reported killed and 200 wounded in clashes in Iraq, Opec’s second largest oil producer, earlier this week as security forces used tear gas and live ammunition to disperse demonstrations about unemployment, corruption and poor public services.

The main protests took place in Baghdad and the unrest has so far not affected oil production.

Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, who chaired a weekly Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, issued a statement promising jobs for graduates.
