The Petroleum Services Association of Canada (PSAC) is optimistic it will see provincial funding to decommission abandoned wells in Alberta as early as September.

The industry organisation has been in talks with the province since March when it made a public plea to the Canadian federal government to fund a C$500 million (US$387 million) programme to decommission orphan and legacy wells and create thousands of jobs for unemployed oilfield services’ workers.
