Thailand’s national upstream company PTTEP is looking forward to the authorities’ decision on the future of expiring domestic concessions, even if it means losing out on some of its best producing acreages.
The Thai government is evaluating what to do with mature concessions that are due to expire within the decade.
The National Energy Policy Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, had mandated that the contractual management plan for expiring concessions should be concluded within one year of May 2014, according to Somporn Vongvuthipornchai, PTTEP executive vice president, strategy and business.
