Thailand’s Department of Mineral Fuels has decided national upstream company PTTEP will be the future operator of both the Erawan and Bongkot giant producing gas fields — dealing a blow to Chevron, which also sought the job.
Via an auction process, the US supermajor had bid to not only retain operatorship of the Erawan field after its existing concession expires in 2022, but to also take over the helm of Bongkot from PTTEP the following year.
