Eduard Tropin, general director of the subsidiary, Purneftegaz, said the pipeline will run about 570 kilometres between Purneftegaz's oilfield facilities and the Vankor field.

Once the Vankor oil reaches Purneftegaz, it can be fed into state-owned pipeline operator Transneft's trunkline network and sent to destinations inside Russia and for export.

The pipeline is expected to take up to two years to build, given the distance and the complete lack of supporting infrastructure between field and terminal.
