The Cuu Long basin is Vietnam’s premier production centre and hosts many producing oil and gas fields and associated production infrastructure.
An official from PVEP, which is the upstream subsidiary of national oil company PetroVietnam, said tie-ins to existing platforms is the preferred method for developing the smaller fields due to lower capital and operating costs.
Whether these will be subsea tie-ins or via wellhead platforms will be determined based on water depth, number of wells and other circumstances.
