PetroVietnam Exploration & Production (PVEP) has taken over from Malaysia's Petronas as the operator of the Ruby and Pearl oilfields off south-east Vietnam.
Petronas had been operator for 26 years but the production sharing contract for Blocks 01 and 02 in the Cuu Long basin expired on 9 September.
PVEP has reportedly set up a new operating company with qualified and experienced personnel to manage the two oilfields safely and smoothly.
