Apart from a boost to Apache's natural gas reserves, the result firmly puts the company on track to increase its oil and condensate production in the Western desert, where it is currently pumping 100,000 barrels per day.
The well encountered a 494-foot gross sand column with 484 feet of net pay and a similar gas/water contact to that seen in the previous three Qasr wells.
