Qatari state oil and gas industries will seek to partner South Sudan in deploying enhanced oil recovery technology for existing production, according to a joint statement issued by South Sudan Petroleum Minister Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth and Qatari Energy Minister Saad bin Sherida al-Kaabi.

Gatkuoth said the Qataris also aim to help in capacity building and will carry out "exploration of new blocks" — only 12% of South Sudan's basins have been explored — with the country ready "to look into the available opportunities and invest in upstream facilities."
