PWJ, a 100% provincial government-owned company, has received its first supply offer from a Qatar project, and two more are expected in the coming fortnight. The contract is understood to be for 2.83 million tonnes per annum of LNG for a five-year extendable contract starting in early 2009.
PWJ settled on Qatar as the supplier most likely to be able to deliver the right quantity and quality of LNG without it having to commit to a long-term 20-year contract, although its director of operation and technology Untung Suryanto admitted that the pricing of the initial bid "was not quite what we had expected".
