Qatar Petroleum (QP) has signalled its intent to press forward with its massive liquefied natural gas expansion programme even before bringing in any international partners by awarding a pair of significant early contracts for work on the project, writes Nassir Shirkhani.

QP chief executive Saad al-Kaabi, speaking of an expansion scheme that is planned to add as much as 33 million tonnes per annum of new LNG production capacity, said “the project is going full steam ahead and we plan to start production by 2024".
