The new deal will come into effect in 2018 and run until June 2034.
Poland is keen to diversify away from its reliance on Russian pipeline gas. Qatargas signed a long-term agreement with PGNiG in 2009 to sell 1.3 billion cubic metres of LNG from Qatar per annum. Deliveries began last June.
The LNG will be supplied from Qatargas 3, a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum, ConocoPhillips, and Japan’s Mitsui.
Supplies will be delivered to a Polish LNG terminal in Swinoujscie.
