Besides the water depth issue, which tilts towards spars as projects move farther out, a number of other issues can swing a project more towards the TLP — and none is bigger than the advantage of quayside integration and hook-up.
TLPs, semi-submersibles and floating production, storage and offloading vessels can all be integrated quayside. However a dry-tree solution with large module needs favours the TLP.
