Contractors have been told to stop work on BP’s Hopkins development in the deep-water US Gulf of Mexico, raising serious questions about whether the project will proceed.
BP is said to have shut down the project indefinitely — and possibly cancelled it outright — as oil prices stay stubbornly low and after its recently completed appraisal well failed to prove up the anticipated size of last year’s discovery.
