Quevedo hit by US sanctions

Venezuela’s Oil Minister has been hit with sanctions by the US as the Washington administration ramps up the pressure on President Nicolas Maduro and state oil company PDVSA, writes Eoin O’Cinneide.

Manuel Salvador Quevedo Fernandez is one of five individuals close to Maduro that were sanctioned by the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) late last week.
