FLARE booms may dim and even be extinguished across the Niger Delta by the end of 2021 if the Nigerian Gas Flare Commercialisation Programme (NGFCP) succeeds in attracting serious suitors to make use of $1 billion worth of gas now burned off at some 178 sites nationwide.
A three times-extended deadline for companies to submit expressions of interest to participate in a flared gas capture programme closed on 22 March, with more than 700 bids registered.
