According to US Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen, Sealion Shipping well testing vessel Toisa Pisces will join the effort along with Helix Energy Solutions service semi-submersible Q4000 to capture another 10,000 bpd from the well.
“The Q4000 should be in place next week,” said Allen. “It will process some collected oil and burn some off.” The effort hopes to capture as much as 28,000 bpd of crude — a number larger than the current leak rate estimates.
