With hindsight, missing out five years ago on a major North Sea project may not have been such a bad thing for McDermott, writes Amanda Battersby.

“Five years ago, when I joined the company, we bid for Culzean,” says McDermott chief executive David Dickson.

“We were not successful. I felt at that time that bid was too early for the new McDermott because we were trying to work out our new company structure, our new organisation,” Dickson tells Upstream.
