After a faltering start, Oxy has done a remarkable job in rehabilitating the heavy oil field in southern Oman, helping to offset losses from Block 6 operated by PDO.
Oxy and partner Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala are now pumping 95,000 barrels per day from Mukhaizna despite the technically challenging programme.
The pair took over operatorship of the field from PDO in 2005 when it was pumping only 10,000 bpd.
