Spain’s Repsol is considering re-using its Gyda platform in Norway’s North Sea to develop the 47-year old Vette oil discovery.
Instead of being dismantled after its planned shutdown later this year, the 29-year-old drilling, processing and quarters platform may instead be refurbished for a new lease of life 150 kilometres away, Upstream has learned.
Operator Repsol and partners Dyas and M Vest Energy were last month awarded a new licence including the Vette, Brisling and Mackerel discoveries in Norway’s annual licencing round of mature acreage.
