Spain's Repsol has become the latest company to withdraw from pre-salt exploration acreage in Angola’s Kwanza basin, writes Iain Esau.
In addition, the company has also pulled out of a block in environmentally sensitive waters in Spain.
After participating in the unsuccessful Ohanga-1 wildcat in Eni-operated Block 35 off Angola in mid-2016, Repsol withdrew from the asset.
Repsol has also pulled out of ConocoPhillips’ Block 37 after unsuccessful drilling there.
