Spanish player Repsol plans to drill an appraisal well in the second half of this year on its large new onshore gas discovery in the Sakakemang block in Sumatra, Indonesia.
The operator announced the Kaliberau Dalam-2X discovery in February 2019, adding that it contained at least 2 trillion cubic feet of recoverable gas reserves with upside potential. Repsol chief executive Josu Jon Imaz said his company would like to accelerate the development of Kaliberau Dalam-2X, with a new well to be drilled in the third or fourth quarter this year.
