In his spare time, he makes documentaries profiling native elders and operates a wilderness youth camp to help native teenagers bridge the gap between their traditions and modern life.
Porter credits the recent breakthrough in land claims negotiations to the Kaska band's tactic of pressuring industry to influence government to settle with the natives.
