Uzbekistan's state-owned oil and gas producer Uzbekneftegaz has mostly completed a restructuring process started earlier this year following an order from the nation's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, writes Vladimir Afanasiev.
It has lost control over gas transportation and marketing subsidiaries and split off its major construction and drilling units, according to the company’s executive chairman, Bakhodirzhon Sidikov.
However, there are still post-restructuring challenges to overcome, as the process to streamline operations “is taking much more resources and time compared to what was originally expected”, he acknowledged.
