In Britain the most advanced companies are Wavegen and Ocean Power Delivery. Elsewhere in Europe, AWS from the Netherlands should this month be placing a two megawatt device off Portugal's northern coast. This is just about the first serious device to be installed further out than the shoreline.
On the other side of the world, Australia's Energetech has a high profile, with plans to place its first full-scale 500 kilowatt device on the shoreline at Port Kembla, south of Sydney, by next March.
