Influences in this direction include the need for large diameter pipes to cater for the high volumes of sour-service production from these high-pressure/high-temperature reservoirs, along with the challenges of resisting riser fatigue in the ultra-deep waters of the Santos basin.
However, in recent projects Petrobras has been tending back towards the flexible pipe riser systems that have featured so prominently in its earlier Campos basin’s deepwater developments.
