Russian state-controlled giant Rosneft has revealed medium-term plans to maintain or slightly grow its oil production, with a focus on commercialising hard-to-recover hydrocarbons and bringing online small fields close to its key producing assets.

Rosneft vice president for upstream operations Eric Liron told state news agency Tass that reservoirs with low permeability and difficult geologies are expected to contribute 33 million tonnes (241 million barrels) to the company’s anticipated total oil production in 2022.
