Now, three major players in the Rovuma basin are gearing up to drill exploration probes in their acreage.
Nelson Ocuane, chairman and chief executive of Mozambique’s state-owned oil company ENH, which has minority stakes in all acreage in the country, says Eni, Statoil and Petronas are in the process of pinpointing drilling locations.
Eni, operator of Area 4, and Petronas, operator of areas 3 and 6, could each drill in 2011-2012 while Statoil, which operates Areas 2 and 5, may drill in two to three years’ time.
