The work centres on remaining electrical hook-ups and preparing the J-lay tower for a week of field trials slated for the beginning of May.
The $150 million vessel was built by Samsung Heavy Industries and arrived in Mobile at the beginning of April. The field trials will test the operations of the vessel's pipe clamps and tensioners.
If given the green light, Saibos intends to begin work immediately on TotalFinaElf's Canyon Express project in the Mississippi Canyon area.
