Italian contractor Saipem has chartered a newbuild jack-up rig from Chinese yard China Merchant Heavy Industry for a drilling campaign for Saudi Aramco in the Middle East.
Sources said the charter for the CMHI Hilong 7 jack-up will start in November for a three-year drilling campaign with a one-year extension option.
The unit was initially ordered by Chinese owner Tianjin Haiheng Shipping in 2014, but was later abandoned due to lack of employment.
