Italy’s Saipem is set to land a major subsea installation contract for Total's $1 billion Absheron Early Production System (EPS) project off Azerbaijan.
Industry sources said a decision has already been made on which company will carry out the work, although a contract has yet to be signed.
Saipem has a strong record of executing similar projects in the Caspian Sea and is understood to have fended off a bid from McDermott International to land the job.
