Italian contractor Saipem is poised to win a $1 billion-plus offshore pipeline contract from Qatargas, involving its much delayed Barzan gas project in Qatar's giant North Field.
At least three industry sources close to the tender process told Upstream that Saipem has been chosen by Qatargas to carry out the Barzan pipeline project.
“Saipem is set to win the Barzan job and the contract is likely to be signed within days,” a source close to the development said.
