Italian offshore contractor Saipem is expected to complete the pipeline and subsea facility installation work at China’s deepwater Liwan 3-1 gas field in the Pearl River Mouth basin of the South China Sea in July.
Industry officials said that Saipem’s flagship pipelay vessel FDS, which arrived in the South China Sea in March, has just completed laying the remaining section, covering 18 kilometres, of a second 79-kilometre 22-inch diameter pipeline for Liwan 3-1-1 in water depths of 1500 metres.
