Sakhalin 1 is currently ramping up oil output to 250,000 barrels per day from the offshore field following the opening of the De-Kastri oil export terminal in the nearby Khabarovsk region in October and the completion of a dedicated oil export pipeline from Chaivo to De-Kastri in September.
During the second phase of Sakhalin 1, which is expected to begin in 18 months to two years, operator Exxon Neftegaz is set to tap into the oil-bearing reservoirs of the Odoptu field, seven to nine kilometres from shore.
