Prosecutors travelled to the office of the governor in the island’s capital, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, taking Khoroshavin and his assistant on a return flight to Moscow.
According to RBC agency in Moscow, prosecutors suspect Khoroshavin of receiving a bribe of about $1 million from an unidentified company.
Meanwhile, his assistant Andrey Ikramov is suspected of serving as a middle man in the bribery process.
