Salamander has bought Bontang Exploration Company (Bonec) for an undisclosed sum . Bonec's sole asset was an 80%-operated stake in the Bontang production sharing contract in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The Kutei basin block contains the 1982 Tutung gas condensate discovery and is contiguous to the producing Sangatta oilfield.
Salamander will focus its exploration efforts on the offshore area of the Bontang block where it will also use modern technology to appraise the Tutung discovery.
