Rubicon Offshore’s Rubicon Vantage floating production, storage and offloading vessel drifted into the exclusion zone around the production infrastructure during bad weather, and the floater’s mooring chains hit and damaged the production riser.
Output from the field on Block B8/38 was immediately stopped and operations started to clean up the spill. An estimated 20 barrels of oil leaked, although it was successfully dispersed within five hours.
