The Frontera Resources and Delta Hess company is drilling its Karabagli-1 well in an underdeveloped section of the
Kursangi-Karabagli block, near the town of Kerimbeyli in the country's Salyan region.
The well will be drilled with a horizontal deviation to a total depth of 4200 metres.
Drilling manager Paul Dewey said the first 2500 metres will be drilled vertically and there will then be a 40 degree deviation.
