Australian independent Santos has boosted its position in northern Australia's growing liquefied natural gas play by acquiring all the remaining equity in the Tern and Frigate gas discoveries.
In both instances, the seller was private company Neptune Energy, which in early 2018 had acquired certain assets of Engie E&P International including interests in the Petrel, Tern and Frigate fields.
According to Australia’s petroleum titles authority, Santos’ acquisition of Neptune’s interests in Tern in Block WA-27-R and Frigate in WA-40-R was approved in early April 2019, giving Santos 100% ownership in both permits.
