Sapetro is told to wait on OPL row

Nigerian independent South Atlantic Petroleum (Sapetro) has been told by a Lagos High Court judge that it will have to wait until 5 December for a ruling on its bid to prevent the government from reallocating the remains of Block OPL 246 to ONGC Videsh.

Controlled by former defence minister and Nigerian powerbroker General Theophilus Danjuma, Sapetro had earlier secured a development licence for part of the block that is now named OML 130 and hosts Total's Akpo deep-water field.

Sapetro applied for a second development licence but this was refused, with the rump being renamed OPL 297 and allocated to ONGC Videsh, the international unit of India's Oil&Natural Gas Corporation.
