The four-year programme to raise aggregate output by 162,000 barrels per day will cost $760 million, said Central Iraian Oil Fields Company (CIOFC).

The well is one of four in a first-phase operation at Sarkan and nearby Mal-e Kuh and Cheshmeh Khosh that will cost $20 million, according to CIOFC.

Other actvities in the central fields include 1300 kilometres of 2D seismic, 1018 square kilometres of 3D, and construction of a number of desalination units, compression stations and gas injection stations as well as more than 9000 kilometres of pipelines and a 134-megawatt electricity network.
